Handsome Harry
hospitalized, having a huge harvest of
harmful humiliating hurtful
Haemorrhoids, however his hereditary
hazardous haemophilia, has hampered
his hermetically-sealed hypersensitive
hindquarters, from halting his healing
by haemorrhaging heavily.
The hallmark hitherto of a history
of harmful high hypertension.
“ Hardly hilarious” hinted Harry
howling horrendously, hiding his
head herpes and hives honourably,
having hitherto hastened to
have hours of hopeless but
harmless homeopathy.

Nature's Lullaby
I hear and see the sights and sounds that bring tear drops to my eye..
at trees whose leaves hang like mermaid’s tresses, from their slender bending stems,
pendulous and glistening in the bright sunlight, are mother nature’s little gems.
Dancing and undulating in response to every little summer breeze that blows
like a sight that stirs a mothers heart, at first glimpse, of baby’s tiny toes.
The joyous sound of singing birds showing they are so happy to be alive
And the sound of the busy humming bees flying out from a nearby hive
So purposeful is nature in her wisdom in a myriad of ways
her infinite balance and variety earns many a poet’s praise
nothing ever remains constant all just comes and goes
all part of nature’s master plan as any wise man knows
Natures Songs
the dawn chorus of birds that allays all my fears.
Every morning at dawn as they twitter and sing,
their own sweet, untaught melody’s familiar ring
The continuous song of a skylark on high,
as she gradually descends from out of the sky.
Alighting some way from her nest she relies,
on protecting her eggs from a predator’s eyes.
A sand martin’s song no matter what time of day,
can be heard as they fashion their nests out of clay.
The precarious nature as it grows from the start,
is decidedly akin to an architects art.
A blackbird sings fleetingly across the well cut lawn,
seeking unsuspecting worms to feed their newly born.
Hoping instinctively to minimise their arduous toil,
trying however vainly to find some fresh dug soil.
On the roof two late start, starlings due to bad weather,
flitting to and fro with twigs, moss, straws and feather.
In the hope of raising some of their young alive,
before the marauding magpie predators arrive.
The blue tits and sparrows singing away with glee
have occupied the tall, blooming, mock orange tree
Having a feast from off the prolific huge white flowers
must be quite tasty then they’ve been singing there for hours
.
Red Ruby
to divide her from her mates.
When she led the fight against wage cuts,
outside the factory gates.
They offered her promotion,
to get her off their backs.
She resisted the temptation,
to be one of their paid hacks.
She said I support the workers,
whether by hand or brain.
You called me Red Ruby,
then that shall be my name.
Despite your Boss press distortions,
they’ll back me to the hilt.
They know where their interests lie,
on whose side rests the guilt.
We want no Nuclear Weapons,
to wipe out the human race.
We need more Schools and Hospitals,
it’s a national disgrace.
Borrowing from P.F.I loan sharks,
at inflated interest rates.
To build unwanted “Academies,”
that everybody hates.
Paid for by our great grandchildren,
in tax for many years to come.
We need some REAL democracy,
that’s where Red Ruby’s coming from.
The Pearly Gate
at the end of your past life review
will you try to deny you always passed by
when help was needed from you
Did you get a note from the quack
for those pains in your back
just to get a week off work
when you know full well
the doctor can’t tell
that you’re lying, you jerk
Did you try to be pretend
to be somebody’s friend
then let them down in the end
how you tried to deride
somebody who tried
to please you by helping you out
turned them down flat
at the drop of a hat
put all their intentions in doubt
On that day even worse
when you found some ones purse
hiding it quickly from sight
you didn’t even care
that it wasn’t fair
to put someone in, such a plight
The Tramp
his button-less army overcoat too long and overlapped.
Secured by a length, of frayed and knotted picture cord,
helping to defy gravity, with some help, from the Lord.
Sporting some clapped out “trainers” that had seen much better days,
one could have said that they’re buggered to coin a turn of phrase.
his care worn wrinkled forehead, above a pair of bloodshot eyes.
A nervous cough, and raised eyebrows, indicated surprise.
He recalled how he’d once worn his army uniform with pride,
now he was disillusioned ,felt sad and all empty inside.
on his wounded discharge from the army, back to his old address,
he found his wife had left him for someone, much to his distress
Now with the love of his life departed, he was so sad and, filled with despair,
lost his pride and took to the bottle no zest for living, a life so unfair.
And as he sat deep in thought on a park bench, in pain from his wounded back
came a voice of a pretty nurse he’d met, when wounded back from Iraq
In a voice full with compassion and concern at the plight he was in
said how in the name of heaven can they do this to a man like you Jim
They went off in her car reliving the moments they’d spent together
a shower a new suit and a hearty meal transformed Jim’s life forever

Deception
and led by the nose into a pointless, cruel war
Where many thousands of gods children died
in acts of organised and scientific genocide
New words are coined to justify these cruel acts
designed to conceal the actual barbaric facts
Rendition, collateral damage, water boarding, shock and awe
we’ll need a brand new dictionary next time they start a war
No matter what words they use or how they cheat and lie
the facts will be duly noted by the spirit in the sky
Words Can
when you spoke to someone harshly, or bit your tongue instead.
Words spoken in the heat of the moment, can take forever to forget,
can linger in a person’s memory, as a source of much regret.
Words are so intractable, and when repeated by another,
with a change of emphasis can cause a lot of bother.
Let kind thoughts, precede your words, not as an afterthought,
then kindness is contagious and can quite easily be caught
Make Believe Land
lies a quaint little place, called Make Believe Land
Where happiness blooms neath’ a candy floss sky,
where everyone smiles cause’ there’s no reason to cry.
Tinsel bud gilded blossoms brighten the trees,
not a sound can be heard but the song of the bees.
Goldilock’s three bears live just down the lane,
Snow white’s seven dwarfs chop wood once again.
Humpty Dumpty sits firmly on the wall and then,
the King’s men succeeded he’s back once again.
The goblins, and pixies and fairies in June,
All join in the fun by the light of the moon.
Dancing and singing by the whole night through,
sipping their wine made of midsummer dew.
all these joys could be yours it’s ever so grand,
I’ll send you an invite to Make Believe Land

The Fairyland Ball
the little people know it as the Fairyland ball.
It’s the happiest occasion in all of the land,
with the tin whistle tooters of the Pixie land band.
Anyone who plays at all, or likes to busk,
it’s a music free for all, from dawn till dusk
The fairies oblige with their fly around song,
gnomes do body popping for the happy throng.
And for a grand finale round about ten o’clock,
all join in the dance for the fairy tale house rock.
So get out your fairy wings, and shine up your shoes,
you may be just in time, for the fairyland blues.
That Illusive Truth
is a half truth, but half a lie or a falsehood by definition
A biased “truth” is a distortion, a hybrid lie by implication
truth from whatever source is open to misinterpretation.
Emotive words, can turn heroes, into villains in the news,
can change a given story by whatever words they chose.
Truth can be so illusive and quite impossible to define,
due to preconception and what’s convenient at the time.
Words can be poor reflections of external reality
a child is taught conception by what they hear and see.
Words can change their meanings completely over time,
thus translators confuse ancient word usage to define.
Reality is in a state of virtual change by many new inventions
duplicating the meaning of present words stifles comprehension
Eternal truths can not exist while the world’s in a constant flux
objective truths are the only way explain the universe as such

Those Scientists
all subject to nature’s laws. of qualitative change to which we must relate
If you increase the temperature of water it undergoes a change of state
it then becomes steam or vapour, we cannot destroy or eliminate
If you reduce the .temperature of water it changes quality too,
loses all the fluidity it once had, and becomes a solid mass anew.
If you set a piece of wood on fire you still end up with ash residue
this qualitative change is in existence in nature everywhere on view
Every metal has it’s own nodal point at which it sets or flows
all gases liquefy through natures laws as every scientists knows
Now scientists are well informed a fact we could all endorse
but couldn’t produce anything without the help of natures laws

Hate
Hate is a feeling that makes you unkind,
it drives all the love from out of your mind.
Your object of hate can never do right,
then hate can put your judgement to flight.
When hate pervades your heart and soul,
justifying the hatred becomes your goal.
Your ego supports you up to the hilt,
oh what an awesome case you’ve built.
At this point just call a halt,
and jettison your mister Fault.
Then compile yourself a little list,
of good points that Fault has missed.
Count YOUR faults you’ve got a few,
your good point you already knew.
Have a think then in the end,
go and see your new found friend.

Autumn in Summer
The dark gloomy clouds eclipse the rays of the sun,
Autumn in summer has prematurely begun
The deluging rain flattens the hardiest of blooms
as the lightening flash lights up the darkened rooms
The loud peels of thunder midst the barking of dogs
my angry wife still wearing her gardening togs
I can’t recall plants growing as fast or so high
to fight global warming, mother nature’s reply
And almost as fast as it initially came,
the rain has decided to switch off once again.
Then a strong wind blue up, you just wouldn’t believe!
the crystal ball weather man’s been sent home to grieve

Womb Days
to recollect thoughts you may have had in the womb.
You may have just thought it’s much too warm in here,
then if you’ve never been cold how you’d know isn’t clear.
And since thoughts are mere reflections of reality,
on what could you reflect it’s just all beyond me.
We puzzle it out and decide ultimately,
what’s to think of,when there’s nought we can see.
Then after displaying such arrant complacency,
we read about regressive hypnotic therepy.
Where the hypnotised patient with irrational fears,
regresses in time to their much earlier years.
Their thoughts go back to the time of their birth,
and beyond to previous lives here on earth .
So maybe in the womb we can then think after all,
of adventurous lifetimes with nine months to recall.
The Witch
black hair as unkempt as a shaggy sheep dog.
Teeth jagged and pointed as a carpenters saw,
gin soaked breath as rancid as a November fog.
A cackle like the rattle of a predatory Magpie,
as sallow dull wrinkled parchment her facial skin.
As oft to her master on her broomstick she’d fly,
a few lonely hairs growing from her pointed chin.
To her black book of potions she constantly referred,
her eyes sunken as deep as hot coals in the snow.
She spat our her spells as her cauldron she stirred,
contemplating what evil her spells would bestow.
And off on her broomstick at midnight she’d fly,
with her black cat astride her ubiquitous broom.
Dreaming up evil as she circled the sky,
hoping to seal sum unfortunate’s doom.
The entrepreneur
some are said to be intelligent which is hard to confirm or refute
Many are seen as knowledgeable, but only in their own field
some blessed with common sense ,but bad memory often concealed
Some are hailed as brilliant, because they passed all their exams at school
but have problems with a hammer or a chisel or any kind of tool
Like the man who applied for a job, delivering the morning mail
because he couldn’t write or read his name so his application failed
So he hired himself a barrow, to start selling vegetables and fruit
and discovered he was so successful , employed his best friend to boot
He was doing so well he opened a shop, then another and more
he diversified and expanded then bought a departmental store
Many years along the line he ended up as a millionaire
and became such a celebrity he was interviewed on air
The presenter said is it true, the rumour you can’t read or write
that’s true enough said the ex barrow boy that’s absolutely right.
The presenter said well it’s amazing and it all just goes to show
I wonder where you’d have been today if you had learned to write long ago
said the “Barrow boy” I know where I would have been if you really want to know
I would have been delivering, letters and parcels, at the British G.P.O.
