Autumn

Autumn is a paradox one way it makes me sad
To see the trees devoid of leaves their gaunt trunks so unclad
Then fallen leaves attract my eyes as they rustle at my tread
But then intrude ,and change my mood at that glimpse of gold and red
Yes many stories can be told of autumn leaves of red and gold
Glistening in the morning dew diverse in every shade and hue
Each one unique in their own way lying prostrate on this autumn day
A part of natures lavish store carpeting the woodland floor
And aging now well past their prime to help feed the flowers in the summertime
