My Favourite Niece

When first you came into my sight,
your smile just lit the room.
And after our initial hug,
our friendship was to bloom.

We had the self same interests,
and a sense of humour too.
I soon began to make you smile,
when ere’ you came in view.

I knew that I would miss you,
as we went our separate ways.
But hope some day we’ll meet again,
and renew those happy days.
